A supported radar source can be used as a dedicated radar display, overlaid on the chart, or combined with other instruments in a saved view. That makes it possible to build for the watch being stood: a large conventional radar picture, an overlay for comparing returns with charted land, or a split view that keeps both available.
Compatible dual-range scanners expose two live datasets at once. One range can remain over the chart while the other is tuned for a different distance in its own radar item, as the demo above shows. Supported range, power, and transmit controls are presented through the same BoatKit interface when the scanner reports those capabilities.
Garmin, Navico, Furuno, and Raymarine adapters handle their own discovery, sessions, diagnostics, and network requirements. Model, firmware, and control coverage vary, so the specific scanner and installation must be confirmed. Radar remains an aid to navigation and does not replace a proper watch or the manufacturer’s operating guidance.
