BoatKit connects directly to a Garmin Marine Network to discover supported cameras and FLIR sources, radar scanners, and sonar equipment. The adapter maintains Garmin-specific sessions and diagnostics, then registers usable sources with BoatKit’s common camera, radar, and sonar interfaces.
The intent is not to reproduce every page of a Garmin multifunction display. It is to let selected live sources join BoatKit charts, gauges, power, weather, and other vessel data in a dashboard built for the task at hand. A dual-range radar can, for example, put one return on the chart and another in its own radar item.
Network planning and coverage
The BoatKit host needs an Ethernet connection to the Garmin Marine Network. A tablet can use a compatible USB Ethernet adapter or powered hub, but the installation must also preserve charging and any separate Wi-Fi internet path. A dedicated device is the normal choice when discovery and streams must remain available continuously.
Support is independently implemented and varies by equipment model, software, and network behavior. Compatibility should be confirmed for the installation; BoatKit is not affiliated with or endorsed by Garmin.
