BoatKit can begin a trip when an engine runs, vessel speed crosses a configured threshold, or the anchor watch is weighed, then stop after the selected activity has remained idle for the configured period. Manual start and stop remain available for passages that do not fit those signals.
Each trip combines the passage track with its start and finish, distance, duration, sampled telemetry, reference points, notes, and the vessel events recorded along the way. The resulting timeline shows when the vessel began moving, passed a place or current station, raised or cleared an alarm, or changed equipment state. When engine and fuel data are available, the trip can also summarize runtime and consumption.
Correcting a trip
Real trip boundaries are not always tidy. Names, notes, start times, and end times can be edited; adjacent records can be merged; a long record can be split at a chosen time; and likely trips can be recovered from existing GPS speed history. These tools let the log describe the passage without replacing the underlying track data.
