A current value answers “what is happening now?” Data history is for the questions that need a sequence: when an engine temperature began to rise, whether fuel flow changed with speed, how a charging source behaved through the day, or what the tank level did during a watermaker run.
BoatKit records supported navigation, engine, tank, power, environmental, watermaker, and other categorized measurements as time-series data. The history page aligns several selected measurements over one interval and keeps the vessel track alongside them. Moving through the shared timeline makes it possible to compare related systems at the same moment rather than inspecting isolated charts with different time scales.
Collection and retention
The BoatKit runtime aboard the vessel collects the data. A dedicated always-on device can retain it continuously; a tablet-hosted runtime records while the app is running and connected to the relevant sources. What is available later therefore depends on both the equipment reporting each measurement and how long the BoatKit host was operating.
Retained measurements can also support maintenance work, review of a warning, saved history gauges, and BoatKit Assistant questions. They provide evidence for diagnosis, but they do not turn an unsupported or intermittently reported sensor into a complete record.
