Track history is the retained sequence of vessel positions behind BoatKit’s chart trails and passage review. It can show a recent approach, an overnight swing at anchor, or the path taken through a longer trip without requiring the original navigation display to remain open.

The history is recorded by the BoatKit runtime aboard the vessel. A dedicated always-on device can collect it continuously; a tablet-hosted runtime records while the app is running and receiving a usable position source. The completeness of the record therefore depends on both the GPS source and how long the BoatKit host was operating.

Track history remains separate from the edited trip log. Trips use portions of that history as passage context, while the underlying position record can also be viewed independently. It has its own export and restore workflow so it can be retained separately from BoatKit configuration backups.
