BoatKit’s chart is the common geographic surface for navigation and local context. Marine vector charts, buoys, restriction zones, AIS targets, ActiveCaptain points of interest, and tide and current stations can all be inspected without moving between unrelated screens. When live vessel sources are available, position, heading, depth, radar, route progress, and other underway data join that same chart.
Search understands supported marine places and chart features, coordinates, nearby AIS vessels, and indexed points of interest. A result opens where it belongs on the chart, so its details remain connected to the water, traffic, and restrictions around it. AIS targets can show vessel dimensions/speed and warn about potential collisions/close calls; tide and current stations provide their predictions in the location where they matter.
Charts aboard and away
Downloaded charts and supporting data can live on the BoatKit host and are rendered directly in the browser, keeping the core chart useful without a live internet connection. A tablet can supply its own GPS for a standalone chart experience, while NMEA and marine-network integrations add vessel sensors, AIS, radar, and other context as the installation grows.
When the vessel is connected, BoatKit Cloud provides the familiar chart remotely rather than substituting a separate fleet-style map. Coverage and available layers depend on the chart data licensed and installed for the region.
