BoatKit connects directly to a DynaGen TG410 or compatible TOUGH Series generator controller through Modbus RTU over isolated RS-485. It reads the documented controller block into BoatKit’s common generator and power models, including operating state, RPM, engine temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, battery voltage, frequency, phase voltage and current, run hours, warnings, faults, firmware, and hardware identity when the controller supplies them.

The dedicated Generators tool brings operational controls and telemetry together. Select among port, starboard, or additional generators, then manage Auto, choose a timed or SOC-targeted Start, and request the normal Stop sequence while watching current engine and AC state plus rolling RPM, engine-temperature, and oil-pressure tapes. The same categorized data remains available to configurable dashboards and history. Administrators can operate the guarded controls, while the controller remains authoritative for its engine protections, start sequence, cooldown, and faults. BoatKit permits Disable Auto only after a fresh status read confirms the generator is fully stopped.

With Victron Cerbo GX integration enabled, each generator can optionally use a warm-up period before BoatKit accepts its AC input and a cool-down period before Stop. Both default to None. BoatKit records temporary input isolation on the vessel and confirms its release, including after a restart.

Integration settings remain focused on setup and diagnostics: interface status, resolved serial port, controller identity and versions, and advanced raw bitmaps. BoatKit clears stale data as soon as an integration is disabled or its serial interface disappears, and automatically reopens the transport after a USB RS-485 adapter is reconnected.

Connecting one or more controllers

Use an isolated RS-485 path on a dedicated BoatKit device. HALPI2 installations can use the integrated isolated RS-485 port; other devices need a supported USB RS-485 adapter. Match the controller’s configured baud rate and Modbus address in BoatKit. Several controllers may share one half-duplex bus only when every device uses the same baud rate and each has a unique address.

Remote generator start has installation-wide consequences. Confirm the DynaGen wiring and configuration, engine-room ventilation, exhaust safety, shore-power and transfer-switch behavior, and all local interlocks before enabling BoatKit controls. BoatKit does not replace the controller’s protections or the vessel’s required operating procedures.
