The Calex adapter owns a dedicated 500 kbit/s CAN connection, decodes converter state and diagnostics, and publishes the useful measurements into BoatKit’s shared power model. This is particularly useful in a mixed-vendor electrical system, where the converter can appear beside batteries, solar, AC input, and other energy sources rather than remaining an isolated device.
Supported control surface
Depending on the converter, BoatKit can expose bounded buck and boost voltage settings, current limits informed by battery state of charge or engine context, and explicit equalize runs. Configuration and equalize actions require administrator access and must follow the battery and vessel electrical design.
The CAN interface is dedicated to this integration and is not shared with another bus. BoatKit’s implementation is independent, so the exact converter model, firmware, interface, and supported controls should be confirmed before installation.
