Create a BoatKit group for a yacht club, cruising association, rally, or group of friends. Give it a name, icon, description, and rules. Choose whether anyone can join, owners and administrators approve requests, or membership is by invitation in a hidden group. Invitations need the recipient’s acceptance.
A shared place for discussions
Group members browse titled discussions like a live forum. New members can read retained earlier conversations. Owners and administrators can pin useful topics, lock discussions, and archive them for later reading. Leaving the group ends discussion access.
Browsing does not turn on push notifications. Follow a discussion or send your first message to subscribe. Unfollow it when you want to stop, or mute the whole group. Groups use BoatKit’s shared messaging interface across the Viewer, Account Web, and official apps, with a BoatKit Cloud connection.
Show the burgees that matter to you
A group can offer several badge variants, such as White, Gold, and Platinum burgees or new-member and regular-member badges. Members choose their own variants. These choices express affiliation; BoatKit does not verify award eligibility or organizational credentials.
Choose profile affiliations separately from boat badges. A vessel owner can display up to three selected badges alongside an already public boat’s name on the community map. Groups control whether their badges may appear publicly, and hidden groups start with that option off. Leaving a group removes the departing member’s selections.
Membership belongs to a person’s account and grants no vessel access. A club badge does not publish a private boat, share its position, or change its access settings. Your onboard BoatKit features continue to work offline.
